OSSLT prep · Toronto & online

OSSLT prep for Toronto students.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is a Grade 10 graduation requirement. We practice the reading passages, opinion writing, and short-answer formats the test uses, so your child knows exactly what's being asked.

Our approach

We practice the actual test format.

Reading passages

We practice the reading-comprehension passages and question styles the test uses, so nothing on the day is unfamiliar.

Opinion writing

We work on structuring a clear opinion piece — the format the test specifically assesses.

Short-answer responses

We practice the short-answer format so your child knows how to answer precisely and completely.

Grade 10

OSSLT — Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

The OSSLT is a graduation requirement for Ontario high school students, typically written in Grade 10. It tests reading and writing skills students are expected to have developed by that point — it isn't a separate curriculum, so focused practice on the test's specific formats makes the biggest difference.

We match your child with a tutor who reviews the reading, writing, and short-answer skills the test assesses, building confidence well before test day.

Questions

Common questions about OSSLT prep.

What if my child doesn't pass?

Students who don't pass on their first attempt get further opportunities, including a literacy course option. A tutor can help either way — first-attempt prep or working through the alternative route.

When should we start prepping?

A few weeks of focused practice before the test date is usually enough, but starting earlier gives more room to build comfort with the format at a relaxed pace.
